Hawthorne Preschool Academy provides a safe, developmentally appropriate, child-centered approach that promotes a nurturing, caring, and accepting environment, fostering social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual growth. Our hope is children will learn the love of God and share that love with others. Our curriculum builds children's self esteem, problem solving skills and respect for others, as well as self confidence, love of learning and kindergarten readiness. We strive to provide a healthy balance of child-directed and teacher-guided activities, recognizing all children learn at their own pace. We understand families are an integral part of the educational process and parent involvement is actively encouraged and welcomed.
Philosophy of Hawthorne Preschool Academy
The early years of children's lives are the most critical when it comes to their development. They are growing and learning at a rapid pace. Learning is happening all the time and is interwoven through all developmental areas. Hawthorne Preschool Academy strives to ensure that learning is ongoing, safe, positive and fun, while nurturing the whole child with developmentally appropriate child-centered activities that are meaningful to them.
Children should be given choices, responsibilities and opportunities to initiate their own learning. Center time is an extremely important part of the daily schedule. Children learn through play and during center time they can engage in dramatic play, helping children build literacy skills and learn about themselves and the world.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about color, shapes, textures, numbers, letters, animals, seasons, feelings, senses, nutrition, personal hygiene, manners, basic science and math concepts, and creative concepts such as music and movement, always learning at their own pace, while respecting the culture and diversity of each child and their family.
